Description
Sonic Background: Fans of the film, "Leto" (Summer), will appreciate the soundscape of this vinyl collection. Like the 2019 movie, they capture the angst and the promise of the collapse of the Soviet Union of the late 1980s and early 1990s. These artists, like most urban young adults at this time, had already left the Soviet years behind and were all-in to build something new.
This collection, including the American artist Joanna Stingray as well as releases from France and the UK, demonstrates how foreigners embraced and supported these young artists and the revolutionary changes in Russia and other parts of the (former) Soviet Union.
About the Records: There are 14 rarely handled, vintage record albums in this collection. Two do not have individual photos due to the 24-photo limit: one of the Avia records, and the Brigada S EP. All are 33" LPs, except for the one Brigada S 45" EP.
I purchased 13 of these 14 albums in Leningrad/St. Petersburg in 1988, 1990 and 1992. I obtained the Zvuki Mu UK release in England in 1989. See "condition description" for more info.
Packing Details: I invested almost $5/album for packing materials, to ensure that you will receive them in the same condition shown in the photos. First, I purchased thick plastic 12 x 12 sleeves for each of the discs so that they wouldn’t damage the original cover and sleeve. I then sandwiched each disc between the original cover/sleeve and a 12 x 12 square of shipping box corrugated cardboard. Finally, I double-wrapped the “sandwich” in 3/16 bubble wrap. I also purchased blue painters’ tape to make each album package easier to unwrap. The bubble-wrapped album packages are surrounded by layers of 5/16 large bubble wrap, corrugated cardboard pieces, paperboard, thick packing paper and newspaper, inside a 16 x 16 x 16 shipping box that weighs almost 15 pounds.
