"Opus" is the final piano solo concert film by the legendary Ryuichi Sakamoto, who passed away on March 28, 2023. This deeply moving performance captures Sakamoto’s last live concert before his passing, where he performs 20 carefully selected pieces, including the iconic “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence,” tracks from his final album 12, and the first-ever solo piano rendition of YMO’s “Tong Poo.”
The film has gained international acclaim, premiering at prestigious film festivals including the Venice International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, and Tokyo International Film Festival. In South Korea, it drew over 40,000 viewers in just ten days, generating significant global attention. The project was supported by a crew of trusted collaborators, including director Soraon Oh, cinematographer Bill Kirstein, sound engineer ZAK, editor Takuya Kawakami, and lighting designer Yuko Yoshimoto.
