Description
HERE is a chance to own at modest outlay the rare UK mono version of Sam Apple Pie's self-titled debut album on Decca (LK-R 5005) from 1969. This first pressing vinyl plays all the way through without skips or jumps but sadly the front-laminated sleeve has over the years become rather tatty.
LABELS: Both unboxed red Decca labels are in Good condition with no unwanted writing or tears but a fair number of spindle marks, revealing that the disc has received a reasonable amount of play over the years.
VINYL: Both sides of the vinyl rate Good, showing numerous small marks all over when examined under strong halogen lighting, yet there are no particularly nasty marks to worry you, and consequently both sides play all the way through without skips or jumps although there is some background noise and some pops and clicks. Nevertheless, this excellent album plays well and the sound is bright and vibrant.
SLEEVE: The front laminated sleeve with mono/stereo peephole is in poor condition, suffering from plentiful creasing, edgewear and spinewear and general soiling of the unlaminated rear, as you can see from the photos.
Galactic Ramble recommends this rare blues-rock LP, particularly highlighting 'Winter Of My Love', a "simply sublime slow blues awash with hooks and deft psych flourishes".
