This auction is for a fine copy of Sandra’s Jullien’s 1971 classic album SEXY POEMS.
Sandra Jullien (or Sandra Julien as her name is sometimes confused) was the starlet of many 70s naughty films. She starred in fine method-acting classics such as “I am frigid… why?’, but she also cut a very rare and quite naughty album in 1971.
The album was released in Japan on Victor records and, surprisingly enough, in Israel on Galton records. The covers are different too, with the Galton version showing considerably more of Sandra’s skin. A Japanese version will set you back around 500 USD, but here is your chance to buy an equally rare but considerably cheaper Galton copy.
Sandra is on top form (please excuse any double-ententre) on this album: it’s brilliantly orchestrated and produced, almost a even sexier cousin of a Serge Gainsbourg album. Sandra's vocals are hushed and tempting, entering groiny regions at times. Yes, it is THAT good!
The album SEXY POEMS was released on Galton in 1971, catalogue number VIC 5911 (identical to the Japanese Victor release).
Condition vinyl: visually VG++, but plays EX. This copy has given me much audio joy and the only reason for parting is the finding of an original Victor pressing (yes, that was quite pricey).
Condition cover: VG+, some ageing, no splits. Please note that someone, blasphemy !, has written a line in Hebrew on the cover. The text says “To Miri(am), in memory of the party, Ilana & Yossi”. I think that is a most appropriate dedication for this album. It might be removable, but I have not tried that. Looking at the picture, the sleeve actually looks better in real life.
