Description
This is a fine copy from a rare numbered, limited edition 1980 reissue of an uber-rare 1972 LP by Satya Sai Maitreya Kali. This is a strange record with a strange backstory. Kali was a member of L.A. pop-rock group the Penny Arkade, who recorded several songs in 1967 for a prospective LP to be produced by the Monkees' Michael Nesmith. That project fell through, the group broke up, and Kali (née Craig Smith) headed to India, to return a few years later one of those lost souls who were part of the tragedy of the counterculture's decline. This LP, like Inca, which Kali put out at more or less the same time, mixes old Penny Arkade outtakes with new recordings. The vibe is lo fi and (to my ear) kinda spooky. The jacket has two sticker stains on the front cover, and is otherwise close to pristine -- EX(+). The disc is clean with some light scuffing, and plays with some crackling at the start of side 1, but otherwise with some light surface noise -- overall EX(-). The record comes with a pamphlet-style insert and a small hand-numbered slip (as the included photo shows, this copy is #008/300).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
If you'd like to order multiple items, I'll happily combine them so that you won't have to pay multiple shipping charges.
