SAVOY BROWN – Blue Matter ORIG Decca LP / LK 4994 UK, Mono, 1969)
Happy to present the rarer mono UK 1st press of this great progressive blues LP, produced by Mike Vernon. The vinyl here is in great nick!
The front-laminated, single format sleeve was made in England by Moore & Matthes Ltd and is in a solid VG (Very Good) state with faults. The front is fine bar a moderate crease to the top left and 2 lightish thumb creases. Add to this some thin laminate lift to the spine edge. Generally the front is pretty clean and is approaching a lower EX. The back is more VG – with the following imperfections: a signature and number written top right, an area of paper loss to the bottom right (from removal of sticker), slight ring impression, some light staining and some general yellowing/rubbing. Still presentable with no splits, please check the photos.
The labels are more than satisfactory – no writing, residue, tears or other damage. The labels show light to moderate spindle markings – this has been played, but carefully and with respect.

The solid medium weight vinyl is a really nice, clean copy. By that I mean, there is only one noticeable scuff line (small) and a few ultra faint (and I mean virtually invisible!) withdrawal lines. To all intents and purposes this is pretty much unmarked, and most would go minimum EX+, M- in some cases. I’ll say EX (Excellent) hoping to surprise and delight. IT PLAYS BRILLIANTLY, with only a couple of ticks to the first track on Side 1. I LISTEN CAREFULLY TO ALL MY LISTINGS AND NOTE ANY AUDIO BLEMISH! Other than this there are NO loud pops, snap, crackle, hiss, distortion or lack of definition. The run-in grooves are nice and quiet and that is how it stays for the rest of the LP. The playgrade at least matches the visual one. Lovely!
Original and inventive UK blues in original mono, supplied in issued red border poly-lined inner. NO RESERVE.
