Description
This is a superb recording. I have listened to many SAX recordings and many of them are terrific but this must be one of Columbia's best. The performance (Schwarzkopf on wonderful & dramatic form!), clarity and dynamics are exhilarating. The vinyl appears to be unmarked. I have play tested all 8 sides (SME 3019, OM20, Technics 110) and there are no repeating ticks. There are a few crackles most noticeably at the start of the sides but in my experience this is standard for lps of this age (59 years!). I have cleaned the lps on a VPI type wet suction cleaner and I think that a further cleaning would eliminate most of the remaining crackles. I would conservatively grade the vinyl as at least excellent but I know that many would say near mint. The box has a few issues shown in the photos (2 of the corners of the box are open and there is a small split on the rear) but nothing serious. The front photo is very fresh and clean. All 4 of the lps have the original blue/silver label.
The lp has been cleaned on a VPI-type machine and has a new poly-lined inner sleeve. The original sleeve is included. This is a wonderful, sought-after lp.
