Description
SAX 2518 MILSTEIN Vivaldi: Four Concerti 1st Label Columbia blue/silver
The disc is on the earliest Columbia label for this catalogue number and was made in Britain. The label text reads “Recording first published 1962”. The matrix numbers on the run-outs are: S1 36001-A15 (the last figure is very faint and may not be significant) and S2 36001 A-5. The original sleeve is a G&L flip-back, laminated on the front. The inner sleeve is an EMI printed paper sleeve with polythene liner and may not be original.

Nathan Milstein, violin, with Chamber Orchestra playing the following four Vivaldi concerti for violin, strings and cembalo: A Major F.1 No.106, C Major F.1 No.3, C minor F.1 No.2, A Major F.1 No. 5.
Condition of Disc
The disc is flat; the playing surfaces are glossy and clean and under strong light they show only the very faintest signs of wear. The centre labels are free of writing, sticky labels or marks and there are no signs of wear around the centre hole. The disc has been tested and overall it plays beautifully with negligible high-frequency loss and only the very faintest of background noise associated with vinyl. At the start of side 2 (at 7 0’clock) there is a tiny pressing blister that produces a single click. I have conservatively graded the disc as Excellent -(Record Collector).
Condition of Sleeve
The unlaminated back of the sleeve shows very faint early signs of foxing, but with no writing, sticky labels or tears. There is negligible shelf/handling wear along edges and at corners. There is slight ring wear and minor creasing visible on the front.
