Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. CLEAN all over -- SCARCE 1967 Original first pressing::::

RANDY BURNS first LP sounds like Nick Drake cheered up just a little bit delivering a more accessible 'real people' street folk direction, and with less of a moody atmosphere in the  songs. Randy Burns' voice overcomes his vocal limitations with sheer 'real-people' sincerity, and also reveals himself a good songwriter, his own "Thoughts of Spring" and "All You've Done for Me" standing well next to Eric Andersen's "Thirsty Boots" and David Blue's "I Like to Sleep Late In the Morning." One suspects that Pete Seeger (and quite possibly Lee Hayes) might have heard his "Civil War Medley" with the pride an artist has in an admirer emulating his work and style. Additionally, his selection of material has a linear order and momentum that could have made it a good screenplay outline, if anyone had been shooting Civil War stories in 1966. The sound is spare, Burns' six-string joined on some numbers by Emery Fletcher on 12-string...A New Haven, Connecticut, native, Randy Burns was only 18 years old in 1966 when, armed only with a guitar, ran away from home and bought a ticket to New York City. He earned his stripes playing open mic nights at coffeehouses throughout the city, and landed a permanent opening slot at the Gaslight Cafe, where he shared the stage with, among others, John Hammond, Dave Van Ronk, Steve Gillette and Phil Ochs. Burns released a trio of post-Dylan folk records for the fabled ESP-Disk label in the late sixties, Randy Burns career began by bumming around with a guitar on his back at the tail end of the folk boom of the early '60s, sleeping in Washington Square Park and busking for spare change. In early 1966, at the age of 18 Burns was approached by ESP-Disk founder and president Bernard Stollman, who invited the young folk singer to record for his label. Although Burns' style was far more "normal" than anyone else on the label (his cohorts included the Fugs and the Godz, plus the best of the city's free underground- music scene.) Randy Burns sparse voice unleashing woven tales amid dual 12 string guitar's backing harks back to the innocent, if not charmimg times of the early-mid period sixties.
