Long long gone, a lavish super deluxe limited ( and hand numbered / #334) vinyl pressing in laminated gatefold cover adorned with informative overview on the legendary British psychedelic band, FIRE, who issued the now expensive and sought after 1969 UK -only released "Magic Shoemaker" album...these are the unreleased DECCA RECORDS Demos & unreleased tracks from 1968...

The ALTERNATE FIRE album offers previously unreleased recordings (including both sides of a 1967 Oak acetate cut under the groups first name of Friday's Chyld) to provide the complete story of this legendary UK freakbeat/psych band's activities during the 60s.

Securing their release from the contract with Decca, FIRE set about in early 1969 to put together the album The Magic Shoemaker. This was a concept album, written and conceived by group leader, Dave Lambert - a story told to a group of children on a coach journey about a magic shoemaker and a pair of magic shoes which allow the hero of the story to fly. Whilst the storyteller approach jars a little nearly 40 years on, the music is superb, though it suffers from inexperienced production - some of the versions on Underground And Overhead are much better than the original...arranged with Dave Lambert to release some of the unreleased demos and recordings that Decca Records ignored. The gatefold album Underground and Overhead features highly informative sleeve, and is well worth securing, including better-realised versions of the tracks from Magic Shoemaker album. Psych collector fans will find an early, version of "It's Just Love", which later appeared on Hero And Heroine. Other highlights are the single version (different mix from demo version) "Father's Name is Dad" which is one of thee favourite psychedelic gems of the era, up there with the Small Faces "Itchycoo Park" for infectious swinging London grooves.
