PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! SCARCE 1970 second press of The IMPOSSIBLE

"WELCOME"
The RUBBER MEMORY
..|/\|...............................................|/\|..
USA - RPC RECORDS (PRIVATE LABEL)
MINT
Long gone second press issued by the RUBBER MEMORY back from 25 or so years ago.
This is a now hard to find but impressive official Rubber Memory issued release with THICK cover and paste-on cover. Not to mention a recording on par to the impossible 1970 RPC issue
We bet the name Rubber Memory sounded groovy back in the late 60’s. It may be articulated as, part Rubber Soul, and any Beatles references are from a hopelessly obscure sixties garage band who admittedly had a strong Beatles influence.
"Welcome", the Rubber Memory’s lone album, came out in the Summer of 1970, recorded “in the Back Room” as the front cover. At the time, the band could only afford to press 110 copies. Which means originals are beyond rare. Lucky for us, though, the band pressed up a few reissues, some years back in the last century, so we can now afford to hear this obscure little gem without unloading a treasure-trove of $$$. Strange though, for a band of self-admitted Beatles fanatics, there’s little on their 1970 album that shows it. There are covers of 1966 Byrds hit “Mr. Spaceman” and “It’s For You” (a Beatles song never done by the Beatles), but they’re pretty lightweight and inconsequential. It’s when the Rubber Memory crank the amps up to 11 and get a little circa 1969-1970 era rock thing goin’ – that’s when things get REALLY interesting.
The Rubber Memory can rock. For instance, “The Walnut Song,” has nothing to do with walnuts, and sounds an awful lot like Chicago Transit Authority’s “Beginnings” except minus the horns and rather with a bunch of big skuzzy guitars slashing big electric holes in the missing horn section. And those proto-Sabbath guitars and thrashing drums on “All About Me” sound like a bunch of velocipedes rehearsing “War Pigs”. It’s a 1970 era heavy psych stomp, crushing under its prehistoric feet until someone finally shouts “Hey!” and the band suddenly race toward a brick wall at 300 mph. Someone crashes, and we all burn.
But none of this, absolutely NONE of it prepares you for the full-on Afrocentric acid funk of “All Together,” a sneering strutting cock-walk of heavy rock thunder, a P-Funk aftershock of apocalyptic proportions. Hard to believe a couple of white boys from New Orleans single handedly predicted the monster fuzz riff stolen by Lenny Kravitz’s “Always On the Run” in the '80s. But there it is, buried mysteriously in the middle of Side 1, all bell-bottom blue 1970 charm with its shag-adelic guitar and scratch blocks, while the cries of “Help us, we need you!” only add to the mystery because these cats clearly don’t need any help in getting their freak on. This is the kind of heavy crunching guitar funk that Larry Graham and Graham Central Station were known for in their early days, but again, the Rubber Memory got there some years ahead of time.
And so, like Trojans defending their lifestyle, the Rubber Memory fell apart shortly after the release of Welcome. Regardless, they left behind an amazing album, where a trio of monsters lay in waiting among the unassuming pop-rock covers. But now at least you know what to expect. And as anyone with the word “rubber” in their name can tell you, it’s always better to be prepared...
