Italian avant-garde composer Giacinto Scelsi’s works are often built around the idea of pitch & it’s inner sound or microstructures. The work “Canti del Capricorno” written between 1962 and 1972 is a group of songs that use no text, but use phonemes which color the pitch, “alter” the sound color, and increase its intensity. Vocalist Michiko Hirayama studied these pieces with Scelsi in Rome. She is accompanied on this amazing recording by Alvin Curran on thai-gong, Masami Nakagawa, saxophone & Sumire Yoshihara on percussion. Hard to find on LP. Don’t miss it!  

 

Record is in NEAR MINT+ condition (appears unplayed) & jacket is NM.
