Description
Here's a bedrock classic of American song: "SCHOOL DAYS" sung by ALBERT CAMPBELL on a clean "Big Notes" Columbia, recorded 1907.
"School Days" was composed that year by GUS EDWARDS and was used for decades as the theme song of his "Kiddie" Vaudeville act, "Gus Edwards' School Days," which over the years introduced, as children, Eddie Cantor, Georgie Jessel, Walter Winchell (!), Sally Rand (!!), Georgie Price, Phil Silvers and scores of other kids. "School Days" ultimately rose to "leitmotif" level, its iconic melody instantly signaling "kids" and "school" in any radio, movie or TV production through the 1980s, if not STILL!
This record is doubly interesting for including BOTH seldom-heard verses, which I've never heard elsewhere.
The flip side has another choice bit of Vaudeville, STEVE PORTER doing his Irish specialty, "FLANAGAN AT THE DOCTOR'S.'
This original 1908 Columbia "Big Notes" "Double-Disc" A425 is in amazing E condition.
