Description
SCHUBERT / CURZON / MEMBERS OF THE VIENNA OCTET - " PIANO QUINTET IN A MAJOR (THE TROUT) ", The Decca Recording Company Ltd (SXL 2110) Stereo, 1959.
Very rare 1959, first UK Stereo pressing of the very rare Decca LP with the all important grooved wideband Decca Label featuring the "Original Recording by..." label text - see photo.
English issue and pressing.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been kept and will be included with this item).
In the name of getting the auction going, I will start this item at just 99p.
CONDITION:
VINYL = V.G.+ (No heavy scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, just the very lightest of spindle trails, etc. Under a bright grading lamp, the run-off groove area looks a little mottled and there are a few light surface marks visible, although on playback they do not correlate directly to any audible disruptions. That said, there is some faint surface noise just audibile several sections of this LP and it does still suffer from the odd occasional click and crackle as it plays.
To my mind, although these imperfections certainly devalue the record but by no means completely ruin it. This is of course a very collectable and expensive record and if you can put up with these minor defects, it could be a real bargain for someone who really values having a '59 stereo vinyl original over a lifeless, sterile remastered CD.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = EXCELLENT- (Given it's age and fragility, this sleeve is in surprisingly good condition... the back is still pretty white, the front cover's colours are still strong and the level of wear is generally pretty good with just some light wear to each corner and a few light creases in the laminate to mark it down a bit - see photos for further clarification)
