Description
SCHUBERT / KRIPS / LSO - " SYMPHONY No.9 IN C MAJOR (THE GREAT) ", The Decca Recording Company Ltd (SXL 2045) Stereo, 1958.
Very rare 1958, first UK Stereo pressing of the very rare Decca LP with the all important grooved wideband Decca Label featuring the "Original Recording by..." label text - see photo.
English issue and pressing.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been kept and will be included with this item).
In the name of getting the auction going, I will start this item at just 99p.
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT (No scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, just the very lightest of spindle trails, etc. Visually, the is vinyl of free of any marks, scuffs, etc. On playback, there is some very faint surface noise just audibile during the silent run-in before the beginning of the tracks and occasionally during the silent gaps between certain tracks. It plays strong and clean - free from interuption from distortion, clicks, pops, etc. Overall, although it is not quite mint, it's imperfections are very slight and would make a good honest copy for someone to play and enjoy it - those searching for a museum piece or a sterile CD sound item might find this particular copy just comes up a little short.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = V.G. (Given it's age and fragility, most of this sleeve is in surprisingly good condition... the back is still pretty white and the level of wear is generally pretty good with just some light wear to each corner and the bottom edge of the sleeve. But sadly, there are two small tears to the bottom right corner of the sleeve that have to mark it down - see photos for further clarification)
