SCORE SLP-4022 SAM 'LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS 'Strums The Blues'
How many people were buying blues LPs in 1958? Answer: not many! Which explains why this early example is so rare. The blues revival was yet to get into its stride when the Mesner Brothers issued this - a reissue of some of their Aladdin sides. This has the maroon with silver printing label with deep grooves both sides.
TITLES:
Side 1 'Katie May'/'My California'/'Honey Babe'/'Short Haired Woman'/'Little Mamma Blues'
Side 2 'Shotgun'/'Rollin' And Rollin'/'See See Rider'/'So Long'/'Mistreated'
CONDITION/DESCRIPTION: The disc is E/E+ (VG+/VG++) with some very light scratches only, visible under a bright 'grading' light. Side 1 appears to have a hint of very light general groove wear, visible under the same grading conditions. The cover is E (VG+). The front looks E+ with little in the way of damage apart from very minor surface rubbing. The top seam is perfect and the spine has a very small amount of rubbing. The bottom seam has a 9-10" split from the bottom right hand corner. This is a clean split with no jagged edges. On the back, a previous owner has written a few corrections to the song titles in blue ink and added a note as to where details/a review(?) can be found ("Bull HCF 126" = Bulletin Of the Hot Club of France 126).
