My listening equipment is a highly revealing Yamaha PF-800 turntable (equal to a 1990s LP12 – I am not familiar with the modern ones that cost more than a small car), pre/power amps and B&W Matrix Reference speakers. Before listing I always clean LPs on a vacuum record cleaning machine and I always determine audio quality by playing the LP not just by visual inspection. For this LP I have used an Ortofon OM10 MM cartridge.
There is minor background noise to quiet parts and between tracks. There are some soft ticks to tracks but these are mainly submerged in the mix so not too intrusive. Track three has a feelable scratch (see final close-up photo) which produces medium clicks which continue into the intro of track 4. In spite of these faults to side one the audio quality is crystal clear with no distortion and is still a very pleasant listening experience. Technically, I suppose, side one would only achieve a Good grade, but I think it’s better than that.
Side two has a few trivial soft ticks but plays very well and I would grade side two as Very Good+. So the overall grading is somewhere in between.
The unlaminated gatefold cover is very good with just some mild rubbing to the front (see photos), a scuff near the top (see photo) and a few light marks and creases to the back (see photo).
