Rare Popcorn / Death rock 45 by SCOTT GARRETT. Day I Died / In My Heart (Okeh 7104) The 45 is in Near Mint condition. Came out of a Sacramento radio station and they put removable stickers on their 45's so when I removed it, it left a very light sticker stain on the flip side. Minor.
You might have seen Scott Garrett record on Laurie, but this one's before those and is from 1959 when he was with Okeh. The songs here are "In My Heart" and "The Day I Died." While the topside is a ballad, the flip is a pretty creepy song that is likely inspired by the recent deaths of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper.
But instead of reflecting on real people, Scott Garrett is dreaming about his own untimely death and how cool it would be to have all those teenagers fawning over him like they did back in February. I dunno about you, but it gives me the creeps.
