Description

This JMR/John Marks Records LP is new and sealed. I recently rediscovered it in a box that has been in a shelving unit in my home office for many many years.  The image is a scan of the actual LP, by the way.

No false modesty here. I sincerely believe that my remastering of my friend and colleague's début recording "Songs My Mother Taught Me" is superior in every way I can think of to the earlier North Star release.

Here's why:

The original 30 ips two-track analog half-inch tape was recorded by David Hancock using his own proprietary record and playback equalization. While the edited sequenced master tapes do start with test tones, that is only a rough guide. As far as I know, the only David Hancock calibration tape is owned by Bob Ludwig, and it was at David Hancock's urging that I asked Bob Ludwig to remaster the LP for me, using his familiarity with David's methods. So, one, I think my remastering is closer to the sound the recording engineer intended.

Two, my LP was pressed at RTI on 180-gram high-quality vinyl.

Three, I think my cover design is better, and my cover is made from watermarked art paper wrapped on boards, just like in the old days.

"Cremonaguy" is the screen name for record producer and audio and music journalist John Marks. Cremona, by the way, is the town in Italy celebrated for its legendary violin makers such as Stradivari and del Gesu. I have drafted and will sign an Affidavit of provenance and authenticity for this item. I have always had this LP in my possession (despite having forgotten its existence), so you can be sure it is not a cut-out or a re-sealed item.

I think that that just about covers it. The fine print: PayPal only, I do not go around behind eBay, and in view of the totality of the circumstances, this sale will be final and there will be no returns or refunds--because once this LP has gone out of my hands, I can no longer vouch for its authenticity. To make it plain, the LP is sealed and never played. So, if, despite its being from the first shipment delivered to the record label (me), upon opening it up, there is found to be some pressing defect, there is nothing I can do about that, and I hope that serious LP collectors will understand my positions in these particulars.

Insured shipping is $4 in the US and $35 worldwide.

Any questions, please ask.

Regards, John Marks
