PLEASE NOTE: I WILL ONLY GRADE AN OPENED LP NEAR MINT (NM) IF I CAN GUARANTEE IT HAS NEVER BEEN PLAYED (i.e. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER). OTHERWISE, NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) IS THE ABSOLUTE HIGHEST GRADE I WILL ASSIGN AN OPENED LP.
The Black Keys are one of the few massively successful bands for whom I will unashamedly express my love. Their unimpeachable string of classic scuzzy blues LPs has yet to slow down, even recently, with big name producers leaving just enough fuzz and distortion to scrape any semblance of sheen off the music. I was too young to have experienced the thrill of the first four ZZ Top LPs upon release but I always feel redeemed when the Keys release a new LP. This one is unquestioningly (in my mind, at least) the absolute apex of their long career. Seven or eight absolute killers. I can rarely find three or four on ANY album and their discography is littered with albums with more than four. This is their Tres Hombres, however. This one is an ULTRA LOW NUMBER 90 IN A LIMITED PRESSING OF 3,000!!! This deluxe audiophile gatefold double LP edition was released on Black Friday Record Store Day by Nonesuch on November 26, 2010, was pressed on heavyweight 180 gram vinyl at Pallas Manufacturing, Diepholz, Germany and plays at 45 prm. Comes with a bonus six-song 10" LP of dynamite live versions of Everlasting Light, Next Girl, Howlin For You and more. Also comes with a HUGE six-panel poster. Also includes a CD of the entire album. Also has BOTH the original silver reflective hype sticker and blue & yellow audiophile hype in the top right hand corner on the front cover. Even comes with the original custom barcoded Reckless Records (represent, Chicago!) price label dated November, 2010 and listed as new so you know it's legit. I bought this new at their Wicker Park store 11 years ago and filed it away in my personal collection until today when I took the photos. Four sharp corners and not a hint of ring. A more mint copy does not exist. ULTRA low number 90 makes this copy a massive current and future collectable, particularly because it's still sealed, so don't sleep. You will not be disappointed.
