Hello! For sale: SEALED copy of Best of Ramsey Lewis LP on Cadet Records, LPS 839 stereo
From allmusic: "By the time this was released Lewis had enjoyed over a decade of commercial success. As one of the more popular jazz artists, Lewis effortlessly dabbled in soul, and his playing was always engaging even as some album ideas that were often ill advised at best. This 1970 set does a great job of collecting some of his best '60s performances and features great representations of Lewis' myriad of styles. The "In Crowd," recorded live at Bohemian Caverns with Lewis' trio, was the pinnacle of his soul-filled and engaging style. By the late '60s, he moved on to more adventurous production values. The innovative "Jade East" has a singular sound, an elastic bass pattern, and, again the artist's work is animated and refined. Herbie Hancock's "Maiden Voyage" gets an even more dramatic production that features echoed voices and Lewis' judicious playing. Charles Stephney's "Les Fleur" from the Maiden Voyage album features backing vocals from Minnie Riperton. The last track here has Lewis turning Sam and Dave's "Soul Man" into hard-driving lounge jazz.
Although this doesn't stand as a classic overview, The Best of Ramsey Lewis does feature him at his late '60s best. "
