rare color Xerox cover edition (#00/50) of this early sebadoh/siltbreeze classic.
fwiw, when I was attending art school during the early 90s, I knew the s/b fellas from around town. I was talking to either uptown lax or downtown mac (exactly who I cannot recall, as I said, I was in art school, which means I was most likely in a bar), and it turns out they were havin’ a hard time getting the art for this cover scanned. you see, circa 1990, computer graphics/desktop publishing barely exsisted. so I sez I can scan it at school, where there was a total of two scanners and maybe a dozen computers. truth is, I had no idea as to how to do it (still don’t!) and I thought I’d be able to get someone to show me (but I couldn’t find anyone else knew how to do it either!). so, weeks go by and after doing a pretty good job of avoiding him, I run into lax (this I’m sure of, because he punched me in the chest). who needless to say, is wondering where his scans are. I explain the situation, which resulted in another punch, this time to the head. fearing even more body blows, I offer a compromise. at the time, my sister was working in the art department of the gap in nyc where she had access to a color copier. I explain to her my dire situation and ask if she can make me 100 color copies. she agrees, but midway through the run, the machine gave up the ghost and all that were printed were 52 covers. well, it’s like my grandma always said, it’s better to do a job half-assed than not at all!
