Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire. CLEAN EVERYWHERE ... laminated gatefold cover, the Polydor label states "1971" which makes this the second of 4 (all worthy) Supersister albums ... Progressive rock fans always note the similar styles to Caravan & Soft Machine, but in reality, those influences within are pinched and skilled-upon with adventurous zeal...there was only ONE Supersister sound...
- SUPERSISTER :
- Robert Jan Stips / keyboards, lead vocals, vibes
- Ron van Eck / (bass) guitar, fuzzbass
- Sacha van Geest / flutes, vocals
- Marco Vrolijk / drums, percussion, vocals -
Interest in this band is at an all time high - and should be.
- Led by an extraordinary keyboardist/song writer & arranger by the name of Robert Jan Stips, built upon inspiration by the works of Soft Machine and Caravan - SuperSister recorded a quartet of master works.
- Eccentric, accomplished and unique, Supersister could near run circles around almost any other progressive band in the early '70's era.
- "To The Highest Bidder" (for instance) starts on a 10-minute adventure with a beautiful melody titled: "A Girl Named You" explores early Caravan territory and wits, bringing out much R.J. Stips' creative keyboards, and he's also toying with a mellotron and harpsichord. The following "No Tree Will Grow (On Too High A Mountain)" is even better and it starts off with an ominous intro. The vocals are fragile as they come in after a couple of minutes. The melody picks up to become a mid paced song with drums and piano leading the way. A great Canterbury song. With Highe$t Bidder SuperSister becomes ground-breakers rather than followers. Indeed the swells amid underlining R.J. Stips' piano and Van Geest's vocals are impressive.
- As the first side fades out with severely demented laughs, nothing was to prepare us for the flip-side.
-
"Energy (Out Of The Future" opens with loud bombastic bass drums accompanied with a rare electric guitar (rather rare in SuperSister who use no guitar in their career), then Sacha's saturated whirling-fluttering flute, which would finally first hasten the bass drum and then liberate the tune from it with the help of Stip's organ then electric piano, finally leading into the first verse. This 15-minute track is a killer complex workout that hesitates between Egg, Soft Machine & Caravan with Sacha's high perched flute and his filtered-though vocals which gets much of the attention -- but it's really bassist Van Eck and drummer Vrolijk's playing that shines. The dronal final-section leads directly into the short closer "Higher", a charming under 3-mins tidbit riding on a bass flute and distant piano. To sum it up, serious progressive rock fans should well apppreciate the proceedings throughout, evoking the half genius / half insanity make-up of the record...
