ORIGINAL ONLY SINGLE-RELEASE FIRST ISSUE
DELICIOUS psych flavours here in a tasty concoction of wild and reckless organ melding with hot guitar, heralding the roots of progressive and inventive post-hippie ROCK.
It's a double slice of great sounds that really epitomise the genre PSYCHEDELIA, as the groove is as amped-up and charged as is expected, yet at the same time clearly adept instrumentally.
Another question for the 'WHO WERE THEY??' mysteries section, although 'Bill Bartlett-Lead Guitarist of The Lemon Pipers' is credited as the songwriter/composer on the 'A' side.
This raucous gem rips and shreds with nasty string-tearing interjections, and possesses a 'one-take' feel about it, like a live-studio recording that just came off in one!
Wow, this made for an incredible platter that perhaps might rank alongside such as The Factory or The Move, and their wonderful ilk. Certainly the flip has a Move-ish feel to it - they were one of the best psych bands going at this time too - and along with The Pink Floyd, one of few to have any notable chart success coming out of 'The UFO' club scene.
But, lost in the piles of releases back in 1968, when psych was turning floral, this jewel went begging for buyers and found none. a diamond that barely emerged from the mine - this lovely single is a forgotten gem - rare, and simple ...and really special!
Not many copies have ever turned up, so make your bid count or wait a long time for any other chance.
The vinyl is NM- overall, just one superficial surface mark on the 'A' to grade it EX visually but superb sound on this makes more like M-. The 'B' is NEAR MINT.
The matt textured Lables grade VG+ condition, some rubbing evident from storing, and a small name in pen on the flip side. Clean and bright otherwise.
Original CBS sleeve included in great shape too.
