SERGE GAINSBOURG & JANE BIRKIN - Same Fontana UK 1969.
A record that caused lots of people's knickers to get in a twist back in the day, this was thought to be filthy pornography in sound by Mary Whitehouse amongst others, probably. The great British public were less prudish, loved it and the Je T'Aime 45 made it to number 2 in the charts. However, nobody bought the accompanying LP and UK copies are quite rare. There are actually very few records as evocative of the swinging permissive 60s era as this one and it is a bit of an eccentric classic in my opinion, with sexy funky arrangements and Hammond to the fore, solid bass and drums and Serge and Jane emoting over the top.
Condition:
Vinyl
Very nice, some minor surface marks, very occasional very light surface noise, VG++
Outer Sleeve
Some light general wear, laminate coming away a little at the opening VG.
Comes in original poly-lined inner, but the lining is coming away from the paper, as is often the case.
Gradings Used
M I never use this grade for second hand records.
M- Almost as new, no noticeable marks.
EX Perhaps a few featherlight whispy marks, but no scratches or deterioration in sound
VG+ Some light marks on the vinyl, but nothing that should cause clicks or pops, just occasional light surface noise.
VG Some heavier marks and maybe a few scratches that will cause some noise, but will still be a very enjoyable listen with definitely no sticks or skips or constant surface noise.
G Quite heavily marked. Will not skip or stick, but will play with significant noise, repeating clicks etc.
