My eBay name is 'punky_music' and I'm a full-time record dealer since nearly 30 years
Old eBay price for exactly the same pressing: £486. The sleeve and vinyl are the original first German pressing of, the classic GOD SAVE THE QUEEN, from 1977. But this release also includes the SUPER-RARE press pack where all the A4 sheets are photocopies, which was the norm back then. This offer is extremely rare. I used to work for RICHARD BRANSON, the man behind VIRGIN RECORDS, here in Germany, before I became a full-time record dealer in the 90’s. Here's the complete info about this wonderful release. In 1977, the German press pack, put together by VIRGIN RECORDS, was sent, along with the single, to music journalists in the hope of good reviews. What makes these sheets, written in German, so special, is that the 'exploding beer can group photo' was done for the artwork of the German 7” pressing of 'Anarchy In The UK'...but as you can see it has GOD SAVE THE QUEEN added to it in blackmail lettering from the single’s cover. The blackmail lettering design was originally created by designer Helen Wellington-Lloyd (aka Helen Of Troy) when she ran out of Letraset dry lettering, for the band’s name, while creating a promotional poster and had to resort to cutting letters from newspapers and magazines. And therefore created, by accident, the (in)famous SEX PISTOLS logo. The other two sheets also show the single’s German catalogue number 11 308 AT. On the top of that this is also a rare MISPRINT. With Glen MATLOCK's surname misspelled as MATTLOCK on both labels. As you know German pressings were born in much thinner picture sleeves. This item, as you can see, is an original first VIRGIN pressing with black & white twin label logos. The flip features, the brilliant, ‘Did You No Wrong’. Both tracks were produced by Chris Thomas. Mailing / Versand: all records will be sent in plain white 7“ sleeves outside of the picture sleeves to avoid any seam splits (alle Platten werden in einer neutralen weißen 7“ Hülle außerhalb des Plattencovers verschickt, um Beschädigungen am Originalcover zu vermeiden). All records will be shipped in special record mailers. Two cardboard paddings (the best) will be used to avoid bending. Ebenso werden alle Platten entsprechend stabil in speziellen Schallplatten-Versandkartons mit zwei dicken Pappkartons verpackt.
