DEEP PURPLE - SHADES OF DEEP PURPLE - ORIGINAL 1968 MONO PRESSING!
UK YELLOW AND BLACK PARLOPHONE LABEL WITH "SOLD IN THE UK..." TEXT
THIS ALBUM NEEDS VERY LITTLE INTRODUCTION. THIS IS A UK FIRST PRESSING ON THE YELLOW AND BLACK PARLOPHONE LABEL IN GLORIOUS MONO. IF YOU'RE LOOKING AT THIS, YOU PROBABLY ALREADY KNOW HOW RARE THIS ALBUM IS.
SO, THE DETAILS......
Matrices:
Side 1: XEX689-1 Mother/Stamper: 1/G
Side 2: XEX690-1. Mother/Stamper: 1/R
Labels:
Very clean: - no writing, rips or other damage and only a few spider marks
Vinyl:
Numerous hairlines and other marks. No sticks or jumps but there are numerous clicks and pops throughout. The album still delivers that punchy mono sound however!!!
I've now cleaned the album and would conservatively grade as VG+. It sounds great - distortion free and powerful! Very sorry to see it go after owning the album for over 25 years.
Sleeve:
Front laminated Garrod and Lofthouse sleeve with File Under: POPULAR - POP GROUPS wording in the rear top right corner and Patent pending wording to rear bottom right. The sleeve has some laminate creases and mild rignwear on the front. The unlaminated rear sleeve has some general grubbiness which is to be expected given that the album is 49 years old. Fully readable spine. Hopefully the pictures speak for themselves. Would conservatively grade as VG+.
UK first pressing in MONO, which when given a rare play on my Rega P3 sounded great!
