Up for sale here: Deep Purple - Shades of Deep Purple

A true rarity and an amazing album, a chance to own a genre defining moment of music history. This is a genuine UK 1st pressing of Deep Purple's debut LP, "Shades of..." and was released in 1968 on the Parlophone Record Label. This is the highly sort after MONO version, only ever pressed in small numbers on the first run. A totally different sound than the more common stereo mix, this rare LP hardly ever shows up for sale on Ebay or anywhere else, especially in such good condition as this copy. It has everything you'd expect to see in a UK first press; A1/B1 matrix no.s; yellow & black Parlophone labels, with "Gramaphone Co..." text in upper case round the rim, and "Sold in UK..." accross the centre, again in upper case; original EMI advertising inner sleeve; plus the 1st Press Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd., front laminated only, flip back sleeve.

Catalogue Number: PMC 7055 on Parlophone Records, Stereo, 1994

Matrix Numbers: A side: XEX 689 - 1, B side: XEX 690 - 1

The record is graded as VERY GOOD+, plays really well. A few obvious marks to the vinyl which hardly even sound on playback, no skips or jumps, almost no background noise, no warp; disc lies perfectly flat. Labels are EXCELLENT, no writing, stickers, etc., a few light spindle marks. The original EMI advertising inner sleeve is EXCELLENT also, with no rips or tears and only very minor creasing. The Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve is in VERY GOOD+ condition. The laminated front and flipbacks have a few edge creases and minor scuffs to the corners, other wise excellent, no laminate peel or discolouration. The unlaminated rear of the sleeve has worn well, with only minimal ring wear on the left hand edge and two small discoloured spots in the letter U & R of "purple" in the title (should just be visible in the photos). Absolutly no writing or splits or tears anywhere on the sleeve. Spine is perfectly legible and intact.

A fabulous rare rock recording, would make a great addition to any collection. Starting low, with no reserve, chance to grab a real bargin.
