Early Stampers
The labels on Deep Purple's debut LP were changed from yellow & black to silver & black in 1969 after EMI took over the Parlophone company - to give EMI greater prominance by introducing EMI logos to the labels. The yellow & black labels are regarded as first pressings while the silver & black are regarded as 2nd pressings even though both use the same 1st pressing metal master tapes and both have early stampers. This transitional pressing is the 2nd pressing label vinyl in the 1st pressing G&L triple flip-back cover.
Cover: Laminated front (unlaminated rear) 1st pressing Garrod & Lofthouse non gatefold cover with triple flip-backs and PCS 7055 catalogue number in top right corner of rear cover. No writings, doodles or seam splits. Beautiful clear spine. Excellent+ condition. Inner sleeve: EMI inner sleeve with ads for other Parlophone/EMI records. No seam splits, writings or doodles. Excellent+. Vinyl: Near Mint - absolutely stunning. I think this has been played 3 or 4 times at the most. Gradings.......
Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.
Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches.
Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and more significant scratches.
Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.
Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc
Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
