SHAKIN’ ALL OVER Guess Who? CHAD ALLAN & THE EXPRESSIONS – Canadian Garage RANDY BACHMAN

1965/Canada/Quality Records V-1756…… here’s a rare original pressing of this early lp by the band that finally became The Guess Who. The cover is in solid VG condition with light wear and aging on the outer edges and white back, there is a sticker with song titles over the song titles on the cover(looks like a factory job), otherwise the cover is solid and clean with no splits or delete. The vinyl is in VG- condition with several light scuffs, a few small scratches/light marks. The record plays quite well with light background present and the odd tick, especially between a couple of songs. Overall the record plays quite well and there are no skips, sticks or other issues. Shakin' All Over: Guess Who's Chad Allan & the Expressions "I'll Keep Coming Back" would make for a good blindfold test, which is no doubt how they got to pull off the ? & the Mysterians -type name substitution which led to this act being called the Guess Who. B. Johnston's "Don't Be Scared" is labor intensive, while two R. Bachmans (probably Rob and Randy) collaborating on "Goodnight, Goodnight" can only be considered a precursor to Bachman-Turner Overdrive, it's too bad that band didn't do a parody of this in their latter days -- it would have brought some much-needed levity to BTO's work. Of the two infamous Scepter/Wand packages containing 20 songs (both "Shakin' All Over" and "Tossin' & Turnin'" are duplicated on each release), the version with the hit as the title pulls away as the winner. Though it sports a tacky cover photo of a guy and a gal in leather dancing in a room wallpapered in aluminum foil, the music here is more fun than most of which appears on Born in Canada. Obligatory silly liner notes by radio station KRLA's Dick Moreland are down there with those found on Wild One and Born In Canada. Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil's "Till We Kissed" has merit, and there are three Randy Bachman originals, but it is still their very first hit record that is the shining star on this and other compilations of the early work on which it appears. For production values and performance, "Shakin' All Over" outclasses everything on these mid-'60s long-players.

MINT: as stated with no defects

NEAR MINT: as stated near Mint!, or Mint Minus, same thing, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean

EXCELLENT: not much below near Mint, may have a delete hole and/or a minor defect or two not visually detracting from the cover, the vinyl will appear shiny and in clean condition with very minor defects not affecting the sound, still very clean and very collectable!

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal cover wear and/or delete/splits, still visually appealing, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much

VG+ a little more cover/ring wear and delete, splits etc., the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects, both cover and vinyl no matter the condition.
