Description

This is the very first Direct to Disc album by Lincoln Mayorga (Sheffield S-9). It was done way back in 1968 as something of an experiment, and as such; was done in very small qualities of less than 1000, which is why it is so rare now over 40 years later. It was sent out to Stereo stores, and was an immediate hit as a demo record because nobody had ever made a recording that was this dynamic before. It is literally the very first modern day audiophile recording. It made people realize that recordings could sound much better than what the major labels were putting out, and it created a whole new "Audiophile" industry of Direct Disc, Half Speed, DBX and digital recordings. It is truly a piece of music history.

I am the original owner of this album, acquiring it brand new.  The album has been played approximately 10 to 20 times on my previously owned Kenwood turntable with an Ortofon MC30 Moving Coil cartridge and handled with highest degree of care. It has been in my collection, stored vertically in a non smoking environment, and unplayed in almost 30 years. I had previously copied the recording on my Teac X-10R open reel deck, leaving the vinyl disc in collection.
