SHEILA JORDAN - Portrait Of Sheila
A truly excellent plus condition copy with gleaming, little played vinyl and terrific sounding audio, of this original 1960's Blue Note jazz rarity

The thick, heavyweight and completely flat gleaming vinyl is in truly excellent plus (EX+) condition, retaining a wonderful jet black sheen and only when viewed closely under a bright light do just a few small and extremely faint surface only scuff lines come into view - non-obvious, purely superficial, and not impinging upon the wonderful audio quality at all. Near mint (NM) condition labels - unmarked except for just a couple of small and very faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label. Note the NEW YORK USA" circular text on each label, indicative of this original 1960's MONO pressing. The iconic and original front-side laminated outer sleeve is again in excellent plus (EX+) condition - thick cardboard with near perfect unscuffed edges (just 2cm of very minor surface "crinkling" towards the top of the spine edge, near perfect right-angled corners with virtually no corner rubbing at all, firm opening edges with no fraying, no age discolouration on either side, and all colours, art work, photos and text remain beautifully intact and all with crystal clear clarity and definition. The only blemishes (too strong a word) is that the reverse side has been pasted on at a slight angle, resulting in some very minor crinkling towards the reverse side top right and bottom left corners (see photos), and on the reverse side immediately above the small text are the very faint (you will need to tilt the sleeve in a good light to identify) indented words "Recorded 9th Sept/12th Oct 1962 New York City" which may have previously been written in pencil and then rubbed out - very minor. Note the early pressing horizontal "43 West 61st St., New York 23" text at the bottom of the reverse side. The quality of the MONO audio is near mint (NM) - no clicks, skips, repeats, jumps or background crackle/interference at all - so impressive for a record of this age. Wonderful tone and clarity throughout with every track making for a fabulous listen. With Barry Galbraith on guitar, Steve Swallow on bass, and Denzil Best on drums these top notch musicians are the perfect accompaniment to Sheila Jordan's haunting voice. This set was originally recorded between 19th September and 12th October 1962 in New York and the tracks have not aged one bit...no wonder this is such a sought after and cherished LP!
Comes complete with original "27 YEARS BLUE NOTE" inner sleeve, itself a collectable and in excellent condition with no seam splits, tears, edge fraying or age discolouration.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the sleeve itself to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
