Description
SHIRLEY COLLINS - " THE POWER OF THE TRUE LOVE KNOT ", Polydor Records (583025), STEREO, UK Pressing, 1968.
Very rare first English issue of the classic album by Shirley Collins, featuring assistance from Dolly Collins and The Incredible String Band... this is the extremely rare 1st pressing with the laminated sleeve, original inner sleeve, plus maxtrix numbers which end in A//1/B//1 denoting the very first run off the press.
This record has been professionally cleaned on my Moth cleaning machine (Note: after cleaning such a record, I do not have the heart to put it back in it's original sleeve so I have put the cleaned record in a new inner and included the original so it is still complete).
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT (No visible marks, scratches, groove damage, scuffs, etc... even under my bright grading lamp. Both labels are clean without spindle trails. On playback, it plays strongly without distortion or interuption... no clicks/pops, etc - and it clearly has had relatively few spins in it's lifetime - the clean labels also support this. All that stops a higher grading is a minute amount of very faint surface noise just audible during the silent run-in and occasionally during the silences between tracks. When the music is playing it vanishes completely and judging by the general condition of this LP, I would suggest that it is most likely in the pressing rather than the result of any damage or excessive use.
Whilst this LP falls just short of "museum piece" status, in the real world it is a genuinely excellent copy which plays clearly and loudly without interuptions.
Note: for the testing/grading of this record, I have used my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable, which is generally quite critical although I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP (or others I have for sale) will sound on your turntable - sorry to be so uptight, but I have met some very silly people on ebay over the years!)
SLEEVE = V.G.++ (NO rips, tears, defacing, etc. That said, I have marked it down for a couple very small creases around the bottom left corner, some delamination along the top of the spine, and the edges of the white rear of the sleeve have yellowed a little bit - see photo for more detailed info!)
NOTE: It's probably worth pointing out that we are an actual long standing physical shop and soundtrack-specialist mail order firm with literally decades of record trading experience under our collective belts and unlike so many of the jokers and have-a-go heroes that currently clog up ebay, we know how to grade records (often an excellent LP from us will surpass a less reputable seller's so-called mint items).
