Description
One of a kind Shirley Temple 78 rpm with the Brian Sisters - 20th Century Fox recording #6460, which I believe was used for playback for the film "Little Miss Broadway". "Playback" is the recording the studio played back while the actor lip synced the words to their songs.
This is a one-sided recording of the song "Be Optimistic" which Shirley Temple sang with the 20th Century Fox specialty singing group The Brian Sisters. The only Brian sister that does not appear is Doris (the youngest). The studio thought that Doris might take away from Shirley so she was eliminated from the picture.
CONDITION:
It plays well - no skips - but definite surface noise. The record has a tiny rim crack that only affects the first 2 or 3 grooves - you can hear a snap as it passes but again only the first few rounds. The record plays great even though it appears that there is wear. It looks like it is worn and stained but when played, even though it has surface noise, the song is still clear. The record still has plenty of play in it.
This is a rare piece of film history that is probably one of a kind - not excluding the fact that Shirley Temple songs were not recorded on 78 when she made her films.
Please Note: I have years of experience packing and shipping 78's. They are sandwiched in cardboard and centered in an appropriately sized carton and then all gaps are filled to ensure a snug centering in the box.
