SHOCKING BLUE At Home (Metronome/Pink Elephant MLP 15 353) Venus RARE German 1st Press MINT-
RARE German very first pressing of Shocking Blue`s psych-pop classic "At Home" on Pink Elephant/Metronome Records (1969). Whereas At Home was released on Pink Elephant in the group`s native Holland, it was licensed to Metronome Records in Germany. The record sleeve has the original Dutch Pink Elephant logo (back cover, at top left).
Essentially a psychedelia-tinged Euro-Pop classic, At Home also features "Venus", one of the biggest-selling European pop singles of all-time and a perennial party favourite. "Venus" was the first European pop single to hit Billboard`s number one slot (in February 1970), selling a then-and-now staggering figure of almost eight million copies worldwide. Conceived as "Holland`s answer to Jefferson Airplane", Shocking Blue were actually more akin to a souped-up version of The Monkees, with the (albeit stunningly good-looking) lead singer Mariska Veres subbing for Davy Jones. All the better that Shocking Blue`s At Home rocked well and hard enough for "Love Buzz" to catch the ear of Kurt Cobain, making for one of only a handful of stunning Nirvana cover versions.
GRADING:
EX+ COVER in very fine allround condition. Please see photos for details.
- Original gatefold sleeve, fully laminated inside and out.
- Light general wear, with minor record imprint on the rear sleeve.
- A few light creases to the bottom edge (front and back).

EX++ to MINT- RECORD with only lightest signs of previous play.
- Near-perfect vinyl on both sides, with impeccable audio reproduction throughout.
- A few superficial hairlines on both sides, from sleeve removal only.
- Side One has four or five tiny, superficial fingernail(?) scuffs. These are completely inaudible.
- Original two-tone blue Metronome Records labels with two near-invisible spindle lines on each label.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "ST-MLP-15353-A PF" and "ST-MLP-15353-B PF".
- This copy of "At Home" is fully certified to be a very first German pressing, released in 1969.

PLEASE NOTE: Not to be compared with the more-often-than-not substandard vinyl on offer on eBay, this item is in honestly-graded Ex+ to MINT- condition: You will not find another copy of "At Home" as nice as this one - especially at this bargain price. "True value for money" is the motto here!
