Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. - The first BLUE CHEER was such a vital impact of powerhouse sound, people didn't know what to think of it in 1967 and was the subject of much discussion being the 'heaviest' rock music anyone had ever heard at that time - agreed here!
Blue Cheer was named after a pure strand of LSD. Dickey Peterson (bass and vocals), Leigh Stephens (guitar), and Paul Whaley (drums) had a vision that would lead to a far different type of rock music than was being produced in the late 1960s.
BLUE CHEER were a quintessential power trio that helped set the foundation for the development of heavy rock music. They advertised themselves as the loudest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world and history notes that their sound would reach sonic levels. Each instrument would have a bank of twenty speakers. They were also one of the few groups that Billy Graham banned from playing the Fillmore West.
Vincebus Eruptum was their first album and was released in 1968. It featured extensive feedback, an overbearing distortion guitar, and a sound that was both psychedelic and immense hard rock. The album struck a resonant chord with the record buying public as it reached number 14 on the national charts.
The classic tune, “Summertime Blues,” would become Blue Cheer’s best known song and hit number 11 on the charts. It featured an over-the-top fuzzy guitar sound with a lot of reverb set against pulsing bass and thundering drums. The bohemoth production only served to enhance the track -- in 1968 it was groundbreaking.
Blue Cheer performed killer original tunes and took legendary classics to another height. “Rock Me Baby” was a B.B. King tune. Dickie Peterson’s vocal remained true to the original blues interpretation and ran counterpoint to the guitar lines. Leigh Stephens was not a blues guitarist but he did know loud and louder and so churned through the song in a highly creative manner. “Parchment Farm” an old blues song was moved over to a heavy-psych sound and became a successful new life.
Blue Cheer turned in terrific original songs. “Doctor Please” featured frenetic drumming but the guitar playing is insane. Stephens could produce a frightful wall-of sound ~ no clinical sterile technical style here. “Out Of Focus” featured impassioned vocals and some excellent bass playing by Peterson. Stephens improvises some tasty guitar licks within howling feedback , totally out of control. “Second Time Around” came with a pounding drum solo and extended monster guitar riffs and is the best of the Peterson compositions like a driving relentless tornado
" Vincebus Eruptum " was a creative timeless measure for Blue Cheer.
