Label Conditions: Both very clean, fresh and attractive with only very light / light(+), fine spindle marks and no wear around the hole area. A private pressing that plays beautifully throughout.

Rarity: Very rare: made in tiny numbers as a private pressing, this a best-kept Welsh secret. Over time, very few of these have surfaced which is a shame really as it is a brilliant acid-folk gem. After a couple of plays I found this totally addictive.

Brief Info: Firstly, this album is all sung in Welsh, so I little to no idea what the songs are all about. But forget any language barriers– this five-piece, all female acid-acid group are magnificent. Angelic vocals and addictive, within this genre, this is a totally ‘lost’ classic and I doubt if many are even aware of it – myself included until this copy surfaced. Known more in specialist folk circles, this is dark and magical, it has backing, but the real star factors are those lovely vocals. Only a tiny run made, almost certainly as a one-off pressing, this has to be one of the rarest albums I have yet offered. Obscure and hardly-known, yes of course, but that is what makes it all the more fascinating. The language makes it all the more mysterious and compelling, a one-off mini-classic and symphony of vocal sound with a guide value totally out-of-context for rarity and quality. I love these obscure ‘lost’ albums, one for those who love unusual folk music, few will own this. Grab this one while can you, it will seldom be found again, or likely a great deal better, it may be a private pressing, but it plays beautifully throughout.

Cover Grade and Format: EXCELLENT(+): a single format with front laminate, the back is matt and smooth. All folds are laminate covered, the end on the spine. Printed and made in Wales, includes plain white inner sleeve.

Lamination & Front: A delight graphic seen under fresh, clear and shiny laminate that has only a small few gentle surface creases and no lifting of any note. Barely any dulling or record impression, a very attractive front.

Cover Back: Any marks, grubbiness or rubbing minimal and faint. No ringwear and minimal creasing, a lovely wear-prone back to match the impressive front.

Top Edge: Straight, thin and smooth, barely any wear.

Bottom Edge: Same again.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, mostly sharp with very little wear. Any thickening or burring minimal and light as seen viewed end-on. Record enters on this edge that is guaranteed untrimmed or enhanced.

Spine and Text: Solid, largely straight with barely any compression. All text is perfect and unworn under the solid and mostly uncracked laminate, a couple of fine hairlines only.

Corners: Any tip rubs very small and light, all retain excellent shape without knocks or dinks.

Cover Summary: Never seen one of these before, so none to compare with, but I doubt if too many of these will be found a great deal better. This attractive rarity should please many collectors.

The Inner Sleeve: NEAR MINT: a basic plain white unlined inner that looks practically as new.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EXCELLENT: arguably better. Conservatively graded, a very fine visual copy that is very clean with equally fine shine and very solidly pressed. A copy with modest plays on all the evidence with any surface marks few, very light and faint as seen critically under bright angled light. In normal room light, little even shows and looking really impressive. Visually a super record that should please many collectors.

I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or minuscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This folk rarity plays even above it’s high visual grading with hardly anything to fault. Offering strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Superbly recorded and produced, any surface sounds are minimal indeed and this is an exceptional clean pressing with no tracking issues*. Clearly delicate, few copies will outperform this rare original private pressing significantly I feel sure. Both channels are clean and sharp, I am certain this record has been played only lightly and has been generally well stored and carefully handled, almost certainly in a non-smoking environment. Nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this wonderful record. It will prove very difficult to find significantly better – these seldom surface – it can be strongly recommended. One for folk connoisseurs.

You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
