SIGGY MAGIC & THE HEY-HOE BAND "Commercial for free" EP
Ultra-rare Canadian punk monster, self-released in 1978 in a miniscule edition of 200 copies. This features three blasts of wild, snotty punk rock and one longer acoustic track, since it was written and recorded as the soundtrack to a micro-budget independent film. This EP went unnoticed for a long time, not being included in 1992's seminal "Smash the State" Canadian punk discography book, and achieved a near-legendary status among rare punk collectors. The record's three punk tracks were finally comped on the "Smash the State 3" LP years later, but even that's become a much sought after rarity in its own right nowadays. For a well-written history of the band, MP3s of the songs and further background, check out http://cooldudequarterly.blogspot.com/
This copy comes from a notorious Vancouver punk's personal collection and had almost certainly remained with the same owner since shortly after its release. The vinyl shows some minor marks in direct light, but nothing that effects play, apart from some light surface crackle that disappears when the music starts. The one exception is a noticeable pop that repeats a few times at the beginning of the last song on side two. It's not too severe, though, and it fortunately appears during the record's last song, the non-punk dud alluded to above. The record was played tonight on an excellent stereo to ensure no significant defects were present immediately before writing this description.
The cover is a simple folded Xerox with the cover held shut at top with a hand-written orange label (long since cracked open, but intact) and the faded inner sleeve stapled in place. A hand-written inscription on the back appears to thank the film maker from Siggy himself. The record itself has been stored in a new inner sleeve out the cover and will be packaged safely for shipping.
Basic air postage to US and Canada is $6, global $8. However, we strongly suggest that the winning bidder choose Canada Post Express. While more expensive, this option includes tracking and insurance, and the obvious value of this item more than the justifies the minimal extra expense. We cannot be responsible for any damage to, or loss of, items that the winning bidder chooses not to track or insure.
Bid with confidence and please see my other auctions for more rare punk from Vancouver and elsewhere. Shipping can be combined on multiple items.
