Vivian Stanshall---Ultra Rare Signed Copy With Personal Letter From Viv---"Men Opening Umbrellas Ahead"---With A Label Demo Copy Of Lakonga---Original UK 1st Press Stereo Album In EX+ Condition On The Warner Brothers Label---A1 and B1 From 1974---1 Of Only 5000 Pressed---Performed By Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Ric Grech, Neil Innes, Madeline Bell and Doris Troy
This is a UK copy from 1974 in stereo on the Warner Brothers label, cat. no. K56052 with matrices A1 and B1. This copy has a message from Viv Stanshall written on the inner, which says " For Nev and all the chaps and chapesses at Tameside College..Vivian Stanshall". Also with a lovely personal letter to said "Nev" which Viv has typed on a pink piece of paper dated Wednesday 5th March '75. It reads: "Dear Nev., herewith the bumph you so rudely demanded. The glossy pics. date from the last Edinburgh Festival during my Van Gogh period. All artistes have them. Since then I've changed: Add at least 7" of beard and 11/2' of hair. Colour auburn & printing your name & etc. on the back, firmly in ballpoint or pen send to: no staff of the Daily Mirror may apply. The records are from my personal & impoverished collection; but if any of your chums want some on the cheap: I can get "Men Opening Umbrellas" plus the single for, to you son: £2.20. I reckon I can make a similar arrangement with Liberty Records for "The History Of The Bonzos". If anybody wants one: 'phone me or write to me with all celerity. I'll feel a bit of a fool if I buy a lot and have to mince round during the interval, grinning, with one of those trays ice-cream girls wear so stunningly, See you on the 13th." It is signed Vivian and has his telephone number written at the top of the page. The white A label demo "Lakonga" was printed "Standshall" instead of "Stanshall" and Viv has corrected each side bt putting a line through each "D" and he has also written around the centre "THIS IS THE 'A' SIDE REALLY". This set is a wonderful part of the "Ginger Geezer's" history.
Vinyl: EX+. The vinyl is in lovely condition with a great shine and no marks. It plays great with just 4 light ticks on track A1. The demo Lakonga has a name "Nev" written on each side.
Labels: EX. Labels are in great condition with a name marking "Nev" each side. There is virtually no spindle wear.
Sleeve: EX+. The sleeve is in very solid condition with no marks and just a little wear. The inner sleeve is in EX with some wear and discolouration but has that wonderful message and signature from Viv. There is also "Nev's" name and address.
With a low start price you could get yourself a real bargain.
