SILVER APPLES "CONTACT" KAPP KS-3584 ORIGINAL LP PRESSING FROM 1968! NOT A REISSUE OR BOOTLEG! COVER IS IN VG++/EX CONDITION WITH SOME RINGWEAR. THERE IS A SMALL DRILL-HOLE IN THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER. VINYL IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH ONLY LIGHT WEAR! AMAZING CONDITION FOR THIS 44 YEAR OLD LP!! FROM ANOTHER AUCTION LISTING FOR SILVER APPLES: Silver Apples were one of the first groups to employ electronic music techniques extensively within a rock idiom. According to their first LP liner notes, their unique sound came from “nine audio oscillators piled on top of each other and eighty-six manual controls to control lead, rhythm and bass pulses with hands, feet and elbows”. Simeon devised a system of telegraph keys and pedals to control tonality and chord changes, and reportedly never learned to play traditional piano-styled keyboards or synthesizers. Although complex, their minimalistic style, with its pulsing, driving beat and frequently discordant modality, anticipated not only the experimental electronic music and krautrock of the 1970s, but underground dance music and indie rock of the 1990s as well. They have influenced everyone from Kraftwerk, Spacemen 3, Suicide, and Laika to only name a few. Here's a short history of the band: The Silver Apples made electronic music in a rock music idiom in the late 1960s. The name may have been influenced by the album Silver Apples of the Moon, a 1967 electronic composition created by Morton Subotnick on the Buchla synthesizer at the Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center. That album title came in turn from the W. B. Yeats poem. They disbanded after two records, and then reformed in the late 1990s. The initial group consisted of a duo: Simeon, on an instrument also called a "Simeon" (a homemade synthesizer) and vocals, with Dan Taylor on drums, and was formed in 1967. The Simeon (according to notes on the duo's self-titled 1968 debut LP) consisted of nine audio oscillators piled on top of each other and eighty-six manual controls to control lead, rhythm and bass pulses with hands, feet and elbows. They released their first record, Silver Apples, in 1968, and from that released a single, "Oscillations". The following year, they released their second LP, Contact and toured the United States. They were going to release a third record in 1970, but their record company folded, leaving them stranded.The image included with the auction is a scan of the actual item but, due to size limitations of the scanner, the edges of the item may have been cropped.

RECORD GRADING POLICY
MINT = like new or near new with only one or two small insignificant defects, a 9 or better on a 1-10 scale
EXCELLENT = Would be Near Mint, except for a couple of light hairlines or scuffs, which do not affect play
VG++ = still a very nice record with all or nearly all of its original gloss but may have a few more light, surface marks, hairlines, needle tracks or the like which should not materially affect play
VG+ = a nice, but used record that may have a series of light scuffs or scratches. It probably plays with a few pops, but has no serious problems.
VG = a well-used record that still should sound OK when played, but may have moderate surface noise, pops, etc.
VG- = a very well-worn record that plays through without skipping, but will do until a better copy comes along.
Good = not actually good at all but probably will play through but with much in the way of surface noise, pops, crackles, etc. Still, will have no cracks, chips or the like
Fair = you are getting this record just to own but not to play
Poor = the sky's the limit, generally I will discard a record this bad (and sell the cover, jacket or sleeve alone) unless the label holds some particular interest
