BPG 62860, early mono 1966 UK Orange CBS record labels.

An early 1966 UK mono copy in original condition, featuring:

1. original first issue ‘mono’, ‘flip back’, ie three ‘fold over’ edges sleeve. Only a small number of these earliest ‘flip back’ sleeves were made before the ‘flip back’ design was no longer used,

2. unusual ‘cross over’ record labels -

a. side one features the original first issue mono record label with the ‘Sans Serif’ letter style font, but on side two the record label features a different text layout and the ‘Roman’ letter style font,

b. side one features the original error of the missing 1/3 text, as the label read as just, ‘33’ (rpm),

3. original, earliest first issue UK mono record matrix of, 62860 A1 / B1,

4. each record label features the earliest ‘textured / ridged’ labels,

5. the letters ‘BPG’ have not been ‘engraved’ onto the records ‘run off’ groove, as the records matrix reads as just, ‘62860 - A1 / B1,

6. the letters ‘BPG’ have not been printed onto the spine of the sleeve as the text on the spine just reads as, ‘62860’,

7. an early 1966 UK mono record made of the period quality, ‘thick heavy’ vinyl,

8. comes with its original period, UK ‘CBS’ advertising inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. The quality front laminate has retained its excellent glossy finish. The spine is in excellent+ condition and has remained clean white and straight and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve features the original UK, tri ‘flip back’ design, ie ‘fold over’ edges. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stickers, or sticker residue to the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the original period UK ‘CBS’ Orange advertising inner sleeve. The two opening edges have remained clean and unworn. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stickers or sticker residue to the inner sleeve. The two side edges have a split to the centre and the bottom edge has a slight split to the centre. On the rear there are two small numbers written in pencil.

THE RECORD: each side of the record is in excellent+ condition. The record is made from the period 1960s thick, heavy vinyl. The record has remained very dark and glossy.

The records ‘factory engraved’ matrix is: side one – 62860 A1, also the letters and numbers ‘C 122’, I think it is are also ‘engraved’ onto the ‘run off’ groove. Side two - 62860 B1, also the numbers and letters ‘C 1’, I think it is are also engraved onto the ‘run off’ groove,

THE AUDIO: each side of the record plays excellent++, each side plays with excellent quiet grooves. The record plays with an excellent full powerful, loud clear period ‘mono’ sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE RECORD LABELS: each of the record labels are in excellent+ condition. Each of the record labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.

THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
