Description
Extremely rare original mono LP!! Only 500 to 1,500 of these were EVER pressed by Colombia Records due to the mono format being phased out of the US market by 1968 as stereo was the preferred format. The record has been play-tested twice. There are some scratches, scuffs, and occasional surface noise on both sides (the price reflects that. Nice copies go for $300-$700 or higher). Both sides have very nice gloss! There are no skips or sticks! It plays all the way through. Playing this mono record with a dedicated mono cartridge will provide you with your BEST audio listening experience. However, it can still be played with a stereo cartridge. If you have a stereo cartridge and vintage receiver that has a MONO button/setting, use it as it will provide you with your best mono audio reproduction. The record was cleaned with BOTH the Spin Clean vat washing system along with the Record Doctor V vacuum system. This album is a CONFIRMED, DEDICATED MONO MIX, NOT A STEREO FOLD DOWN TO MONO!! ALL REASONABLE OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED!! Also, the POSTER this album originally came with IS included! I play-tested this again on 8/25 as many potentional buyers had questions. Yes, there is one small 1/4" clearly feelable scratch on Band 5 of Side 1 ('Voices of Old People'). Surprisingly, most of the quiet passage songs on Side 1 do not have any sounds from scratches that overpower the music. 'America' has 30 seconds of light 'ticking' 1/4 of the way in, and there is 10 seconds of 'ticking' on 'Voices of Old People'. Side 2 has some light 'ticking' in the background on 'Fakin' It'. However, none of the imperfections EVER overpower the music to where it becomes unlistenable! The record has AWESOME bass!! Nice, thick, rich, full sound when played with a dedicated MONO cartridge on a decent system! I'd HIGHLY advise the buyer to have a MONO CARTRIDGE as it eliminates groovewear noise that a stereo cartridge will likely pick up! I use a Grado M1 Gold mono cartridge. Potentional buyers can email me and I will send you a 3 minute audio sample that plays around 10 seconds of every song on both sides. This is very good, decent, playable copy with no skips, sticks, or loud static/crackle!!! Plus, it will save you hundreds of dollars over a VG+ to EX copy!!! Aside of a small crease in the lower right hand corner, and some light ringwear, the cover is in great shape!! The back cover is almost in EX condition! There are no rips, tears, or seam splits anywhere on the cover!
