SIMON AND GARFUNKEL

SIDE A:    CECILIA

SIDE B:    EL CONDOR PASA

MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original CBS Records very first Mono press released by CBS Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1970 by Philips Chilena S.A. (Philips Records), licensed from C.B.S., USA, catalog number 90.096, with hand etched matrix numbers 90096-A EB-CD in Side A and 90096-B EB-CD in Side B, with traditional orange/black CBS Records labels with small boxed CBS logo at top and push-out center. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“Cecilia” and “El Condor Pasa” were songs released as singles many times in 1970 and the same year we got both songs included in a single released here in Chile. In not many countries this single was released, some of them Japan and Italy but here in Chile, as you can see, we also got an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, made of a single hard paper folded in the middle with back cover pasted on the flips of front cover. Front and back cover keep the same design, the name of the duo written in Spanish at top edge, “Simon Y (And) Garfunkel”, song titles at bottom left corner and CBS Records logo and catalog number at top right of the pictures. The cover is blue-tinted and in front cover it has a picture of Art Garfunkel and in back cover the picture is of Paul Simon. In labels, song titles are written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters and for Paul Simon as lyricist of “El Condor Pasa”, with additional information about licenses and catalog numbers of this single released in Mexico, “6609” and Peru, “4269”, which’s a bit curious, does it mean this record was exported to those countries? I don’t know, but in labels it’s printed the information. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE PRESS of this single by Simon And Garfunkel, with Spanish-written titles and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE ONLY USED HERE IN CHILE, a record almost never seen!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Simon And Garfunkel!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in EX or even EX+ condition, with light ring marks, some creases and faint blemishes, some wear in all edges, more evident in corners, but without seam splits, which’s a real miracle for this so fragile kind of paper cover. The record is in VG or VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many scuffs, hairlines and light scratches, which don’t affect play at all, with the push-out center intact. Labels on both sides are in great VG+ or even EX- condition, clean and clear, with only some spindle hole wear, a writing in both sides and some faint blemishes and discoloration. The sound is in strong EX or EX+ condition the Side A, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with minimal occasional soft crackles here and there, more evident in the last seconds of the song, and in VG or VG+ condition the Side B, loud, clear and clear, with constant soft crackles and some light occasional clicks, more evident in the first seconds of the song, which don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, maybe this record could not to be for the strictest Minty minds or audiophiles, but sure this is still a great record in this MEGARARE PRESS, with UNIQUE BLUE-TINTED PICTURE SLEEVE free of marks of any kind, with a record with still a nice glossy look, clean labels and great sound quality after about 50 years, which won’t disappoint anyone!!! And keep in mind Chile is one of the few countries where these songs were included in the same single!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_____________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.

IMPORTANT TO READ

We are not responsible for all the taxes, duties, fees you could have to pay in your country, but I always declare the records as gift.
