SIMON & GARFUNKEL: "SOUNDS OF SILENCE"
Rare 1A first pressing  U.S. Columbia Records "Two-Eye" label with "GUARANTEED HIGH FIDELITY" on the label: CL 2469 Clean labels. Matrix numbers with the 1A suffix are machine-stamped in the dead-wax on both sides, see the photos! Vinyl is VISUALLY Graded: Vinyl looks vg to VG+. We spot-checked the sound and there's some light unobtrusive surface noise,  mainly audible on the intros and quiet parts. The light surface noise is more prominent at the beginning of each side,  and there's a bit more on the second side overall than on the first side. HOWEVER, true to "legend" among collectors who want "very first pressings",  the BASS is tremendous! The highs are still crisp despite the many playings this pressing has seen. As any S&G collector knows,  which was revealed when the first remixed compilation came out more than 12 years ago, the record company foolishly and recklessly  used the MASTER PRODUCTION TAPE to cut ALL the lacquers for more than 20 years! The sound of the vinyl pressings and the earliest CDs  is based on a BADLY WORN OUT production tape! Incredible! That's why S&G and Roy Halee and the brilliant engineer Vic Anesini had to recreate the original mixes using the original multi-track parts for the current, and best sounding digital reissues! Jacket is in VG condition, with edge-wear, corner wear,  and the bottom seam is mostly split, and some stains on the back.
