Original 1974-75 recordings by Canadian PROTO-PUNK LEGENDS, Simply Saucer!! Formed in Hamilton Ontario in 1973, Simply Saucer played a “Rust Belt” style of proto-punk shared by bands like The Stooges, the Electric Eels and Pere Ubu, but that also harkened across the sea to the likes of Syd Barrett’s Pink Floyd (in fact, the band’s name was a reference to PF’s “A Saucerful of Secrets”) and Can (due to their use of primitive electronics a là Michel Karoli), with some Lou Reed-esque vocals thrown in for good measure. But despite their reign as one of the greatest Canadian bands of ALL TIME, Simply Saucer disbanded without ever recording a proper album. This LP (posthumously called one of the best Canadian albums of all time) is a mix of studio tracks produced by the soon-to-be famous Daniel Lanois (U2 / Bob Dylan, etc.) in July of 1974, plus a live concert recorded on the roof a shopping mall in Hamilton in July 1975.
