Description

Scarce, very collectable mispressed Hawkwind picture disc with The Beatles 'Ask me why' on the B side (instead of Seven by seven by Hawkwind).

 

Pictures on the disc are as normal for the Hawkwind release. However when repressings of the original releases of The Beatles - Please please me/Ask me why and Hawkwind - Silver machine/Seven by seven were being released around the same time a production error pressed Hawkwind’s Silver Machine picture disc with the wrong B side and The Beatles ‘Ask me why’ ended up on the B side. Some made it through before the error was spotted (i.e. incorrect Master disc in the pressing plant machine) – this is one.

 

This was sold to me as unplayed. Any wear looks to me to result from the fact that original packing was a simple clear plastic sleeve (to show off both sides of the picture disc). However to be fair I have played both sides twice on my own Rega deck and the sound is indeed excellent. (Nevertheless I would prefer to store in a paper sleeve if it was mine).
