Mega-rare album by Sir Victor Uwaifo and His Melody Maestroes.
Victor Uwaifo was born in Benin City in 1941. Uwaifo has continued his pattern of drawing from Edo folklore to create custom pop sounds like akwete, mutaba, sassakossa and of course, ekassa. A great mix of Psych-Afrobeat-Funk Hilife!
The cover has a label that reads “With compliments from me to Sir Anthony Lewis CBE” and signed “Sir Uwaifo 24/8/74
The record label is written “With compliments Sir Anthony Lewis, From Mr & Mrs Sir Uwaifo”
Also included is a cutting from INDIGO magazine showing Sir Victor in action and part of an interview.
The record has some visible marks so a few pops are audible, but cleaned on my vinyl machine it plays very well and the music cuts through fine.
The sleeve has a little wear but no rips, splits or damage…..so don’t miss this rare one!
