Description
(NOTE: Recently, I came into a stash of fine-condition, heavy, master-pressed, laminated Australian HMVs and Parlophones from the '20s to the '40s, mostly reissues of hot American jazz from the '20s. These records simply are TOP NOTCH pressings - especially the HMVs. Manufactured at the Columbia pressing plant in Sydney, the only such facility in Australia for many years, they rival or surpass their American counterparts (OKeh, Victor, Columbia) for quality. They are NOT common! Especially in the USA!)
Here are the CHOCOLATE DANDIES in 1929, in a fine episode of two-upmanship, "SIX OR SEVEN TIMES." Led by DON REDMAN, in one of his swell arrangements, this record features the riff that later became the basis for "One O'Clock Jump." And the personnel!: REX STEWART (cornet) LEONARD DAVIS (trumpet), J. C. HIGGINBOTHAM (trombone), DON REDMAN, BENNY CARTER and COLEMAN HAWKINS (saxes), "FATS" WALLER (piano), CY ST. CLAIR (tuba) GEORGE STAFFORD (drums).
On the flip side, EDDIE CONDON AND HIS ORCHESTRA in 1933, are no slouches either on "THE EEL." A tour-de-force for Bud Freeman's tenor sax, this band also includes MAX KAMINSKY (trumpet), ALEX HILL (piano and arranger), and BIG SID CATLETT (drums).
This original, laminated Australian Parlophone A7483 is in immaculate EE+ condition.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
