Description
Hard to find 60s Australian lp.....Ski with the Saints. Original mono pressing on CBS label (cat # BP233134).
Musically, this is a really interesting and diverse lp. I guess it's a mixture of instrumental/contemporary jazz, while a couple of the tracks have slight surf/instrumental vibe. There's also a couple of vocal and instrumental tracks that sound like something straight off the top 40 pop charts! Not sure where they were heading with this lp but I certainly haven't heard much like it before. And if the music isn't interesting enough, I love the lp for the cover shot alone!
This record was produced by legendary composer/producer Sven Libaek. Amongst other things, he did the soundtracks for Bob Evan's surf movie "Ride a White Horse" and Ron and Val Taylor's classic shark documentary series "Inner Space." These lps, as well of most of his from that era, sell for a small fortune now. Libaek wrote some of the tunes on this lp...maybe even played on a few???
Would rate front laminated cover as (VG-). Spine starting to split in the middle. Misc corner/edge/ring/shelf wear. Inconspicuous name written top front, tiny hairline creases, rubbing marks on back etc. Still a great looking cover that presents well!
Would rate vinyl at (VG-). Retains most of its original gloss, but has numerous light scratches/scuffs. Plays with light background noise in places, and the odd faint pop/tick. Still an enjoyable listen!
A label is (VG). Has small name written in pen and a few faint spindle marks. B label is (VG+)...similar condition but no writing.
A unique 60s Oz lp that's rarely shows up....grab it while you can!
