SKIN ALLEY-to pagham and beyond-reissue of 1970-super progressive Rock-lim.Edit.300-super dickes Klappcover-last copy !

Skin Alleys second album To Pagham and Beyond. is a continuation of the progressive-rock-jazz-fusion brilliance of their first release Skin Alley (1969). Long complex intricate compositions with fluid musicianship, fueled by unique vocals, were their modus operandi. They would release two more albums and disband in 1973. Even though their journey was brief, the music they made is certainly a viable measurement of importance. The validity of their advanced artistry speaks for itself, including them as a generous and important contributor to the development of a genre. There is not one track under five minutes, which is a signal that nothing is cut and dried with any of the compositions offered up on this fine platter. For music 34 years old, it sounds new and fresh. This is truly amazing progressive-rock-jazz-fusion and enthusiasts of these particular genres are on official alert, this is a must have classic.

Thomas Crimble (bass/keyboards/vocals), Alvin Pope (drums), Krzysztof Henryk Juszkiewicz (keyboards), and Bob James (sax/guitar) made inroads quickly and found themselves signed to CBS Records for their self-titled debut in 1969 and its 1970 follow-up, To Pagham & Beyond. Crimble moved on that year to play bass with Hawkwind and organising the Glastonbury Festival[1], and was replaced by Nick Graham (formerly of Atomic Rooster, though not the same-named musician from The End and Tucky Buzzard) before the album was completed, Graham singing on two of the tracks. Pope was later replaced by Tony Knight (real name Tony Brown), formerly of The Chessmen and Bronx Cheer.

In May 1972, Skin Alley appeared in the NME sponsored 'Giants of Tomorrow' marquee, as part of the Lincoln Festival.[2] A switch to the Transatlantic Records label in 1972 heralded the release of the band's third LP, Two Quid Deal. By the time their fourth album, Skintight was released in 1973, they were playing more commercial, mainstream rock with lots of orchestration and brass arrangements.[3] The band split shortly thereafter, with Graham having the most successful post-Skin career with his groups Alibi and the Humans in the early 1980s.

This 1969 underground classic LP from Connecticut-based band Yesterday's Children is real lost gem. This was the only album they ever made, but oh what a stunning success it was musically, even though it wasn't recognized on a national level. Reggie Wright played a significant role as the lead guitar player. His strengths were more than obvious in each song as he tore his way through each number relentlessly without clutter. The group was led by brothers Denis Croce (guitar) and Richard Croce (vocals). The rhythm section of Chuck Maher (bass) and Ralph Muscatelli (drums) were stand up from start to finish, providing the pumping and thumping force that drove their musical machine. Side one is very good and side two is nothing less than remarkable. The four songs presented are solid and unfailing, featuring the powerful fat chords of Wright. The rest of the band easily falls into line with such resourceful leadership to complete the overall effects of each and every track. Notable as well is the colorful and detailed cover art. This is a fine album that flirts with progressive rock continually.
